Now that classes are out for the summer, students have more free time to go out and do things, so I'm enjoying this month so far. The other day I took my friends Laura and Luisa to eat crepes at this little place a friend had taken me to before (they joke that I know more of the city than they do...haha) and then we met up with Misael at the mall.

Laura, me, and Luisa. Luisa is a new friend that I met through Laura and that I am hoping to get to know better.
On Sunday afternoon, I was hoping to go to some batting cages I saw a few weeks ago but we went and they were closed on Sundays. So we moved on to plan B: eating birria. Birria is a traditional stew made from goat that originated here in the state of Jalisco. Most people add onion, lime, and salt to it and then fill tortillas with some of the meat and then finish it off eating it like soup. Somehow I've gone a year and a half without getting around to trying it so I wanted to go on Sunday. It wasn't something I think I'll crave all the time like I do tacos, but it was good!
One of the areas of Guadalajara that is famous for its birria is called Las 9 Esquinas (the nine corners). In that area of the city there are several places that serve birria.
