Futbol!

Tonight Kim and I were invited to go to a soccer game with Laura and Claudia, a couple of girls from my conversation club. It was our first soccer game to go to here in Mexico. My friends Misael, Manuel, and Sara also went with us.

Atlas is one of the teams from Guadalajara. They were playing Boca Jrs., a team from Argentina.

Corona is one of the sponsors of Atlas. As if they didn't get enough publicity from the giant beer bottle hanging above the field (you can see it in the previous picture), they found it necessary to have girls walk around the perimeter of the field with Corona umbrellas. I think it was probably just another excuse for them to have girls on the field who weren't wearing much clothing.

The whole game there wasn't a single person walking by selling cokes. But of course there were doughnuts....because that makes alot of sense....who doesn't go to a soccer game craving a doughnut?

Atlas won!

We had a fun time at the game hanging out with friends and having the cultural experience of a soccer game in Mexico, but the 60,000 person stadium here in Guadalajara has nothing on this:

I'm excited that I'll be back in Knoxville for football season. I'm ready for some SEC football!
