My birthday!
This past Friday some of my friends from the CEB threw a party for my birthday. I had mentioned a couple times that I wanted to have a bonfire at the CEB sometime, even though I wasn't really sure how it was going to work in the middle of a huge city and they said you have to have a permit to burn things in the area that the CEB is in. My friends surprised me and made it happen though.
Misael and Sara looking for sticks to roast the hotdogs and marshmallows with.
There weren't any good sticks at the CEB, so we had to move on to the park across the street just to find sticks.
Notice the really rural location of this "bonfire"....haha. It wasn't exactly a bonfire like I'm used to, considering it was in the middle of a huge city, there were no smores, the fire was made in a grill, and there were no stars to be seen in the sky, but it was as close as we could get and I really appreciate my friends for doing it for me.
Misael and Marco. Misael is in my conversation club on campus and recently became a believer.
Using a grill to have a makeshift bonfire
No birthday party in Mexico would be complete without a pinata
There is a birthday tradition here called "la mordida" where someone sticks your face in the cake. We opted to put a big piece on a plate beforehand so everyone would be able to eat the cake. Kim took charge in putting it in my face and then everyone else joined her.
This is not a normal mordida. Usually its just a little...it doesn't normally seal your eye shut with cake, get up your nose, get in your hair, and all over your clothes.

Getting revenge
