Busy week.....

Let's see....where to begin? It has been such a busy week. I'll try to do a quick summary: Monday we had some anthropology sessions and for lunch we had our first "special meal." It was middle eastern food... lamb meatballs and some type of bread...it was actually really good and we joked that it was better than some of the normal cafeteria food! Tuesday we had a class on Bible storying. It is a great method to use in cultures that rely on the oral word and not written literature. We picked six stories that we could use in the culture we are going to that would relate to the people. It really got me thinking more about common things the university students I will be working with will be facing and how I can use certain Bible stories to relate to their situation and then use that as a way to share the gospel. Wednesday we had another class on storying and then some time with our regional office to learn some more specifics about our region. Thursday everyone had different worldview workshops all day so I learned about Catholicism...specifically cultural Catholicism where people don't really practice it, but it is just all around them in their culture. We also had special meal #2....Caribbean food....tortillas, pork, black beans, and fried plantains. And then finally, today we had a class on the persecuted church and also......it was shot day!! Today was the first clinic day for half of the people here. There were four of us nurses giving shots, so I probably ended up giving around 30 shots today. Although it might not have been fun for everyone else, I really had fun today giving everyone's shots. And we went so fast that it was hopefully pretty painless for everyone....we even did both arms at once to make it faster. It was great to actually be able to use my nursing degree and the skills God has given me. And then after shot day, a group of us girls decided to splurge and go into town to the Cheesecake Factory! More pictures to come....but blogger doesn't want to cooperate right now.
